I'm all for sharing our favorites and many of my fellow bloggers have put up their top 50 lists (without any particular order, except that the Top 10 are the best). These are my favorite films. I own most of them or have seen them dozens or hundreds of times. They're not for everyone, but they all have something I like to see. Check out the really different lists at Blog Cabins, Hoping for Something to Hope For, and The Center Seat.

I really like a vast majority of your list, and love the love for sci-fi flicks like Gattaca and Minority Report, but boy...a big head scratchers for me on here. Live Free or Die Hard over the original?
Fletch, actually had to hide my geek love of all the newer Star Trek movies too. And you're right, I meant to put the first, third and fourth Die Hards on the list, just mistyped a bit (writing in the last title was supposed to remind me to do it).
These are the kinds of lists I love to read: real people and the real movies they love. Screw what The Suits have told us are the best and deserve to be worshipped. How many real people have The Godfather and Citizen Kane in their top 50? None that I know of. Great list, Jess.
Rachel, I had to keep thinking that when I made it. "Do I actually love that movie, or do I just think it's a good movie?"
